Live in the US and just graduated Culinary school. Want a job on an oil rig in Alaska. How do I go about this?

Good job idea, working on an oil rig pays very well. Especially in Alaska. My friend wanted to be an engineer on an oil rig, so before he got his degree he was a roughneck over the summer, which got him some experience. I do not think you will need that tpe of experience, however, but you must be a very good cook to work on a rig. You have provide food for thousands of people, and it has to be good food because that is all they eat. By the way, living expenses in NY or Las Angeles are MUCH higher than in AK. You actually get paid to live in AK from all of the oil profits. Don't know if you knew that or not. I would call a company like Schlumberger or you could just look on the website www.oilcareer.comLive in the US and just graduated Culinary school. Want a job on an oil rig in Alaska. How do I go about this?
You want to be a cook on an Alaskan oil rig? I would try contacting Shell or Chevron and see if they have any job openings.Live in the US and just graduated Culinary school. Want a job on an oil rig in Alaska. How do I go about this?
apply to a company up there.
I think you got the wrong kind of training to work on an oil rig....
I'm getting a degree in art education. And yeah, I plan to be mailman.
Send them a resume, but you'll probably need some experience first.
why not start by checking out Monster for jobs in Alaska
I really wouldn't go to Alaska as it is very very very expensive to live there....try going to Los Angeles,CA or even NY and see if you can work for restaurants and work your way up
Why would you go to Culinary Institute and want to work on a oil rig Is beyond me,I have never heard of this before and they dont hire elaborate cooks for oil rigs, you dont have to be an Culinary graduate to be a cook on an oil rig
Going on line to see if they have any job openings.
You can contact the HR departments of the various oil companies. You may find that they contract out the cooking to third party companies, but hopefully they could direct you to some of them.

And for those of you that think this is a strange goal, I have done some contract engineering work on a couple of oil rigs and they put out some of the best food you can imagine. They feed the crew very well.
Do you want to be a chef on an oil rig? Why, may I ask? Why not apply to some of the cruise ship companies? That would be better I think. Just wondered.

Where i live, gas has gone up 20 cents in the last few days, Is this because of Obama and his oil buddies?

Funny how any time gas prices went up before, it was all Bush's fault and now golly gee Wally, Bush is no longer in office yet gas prices continue to rise and its speculators and Obama cannot be blamed.

Blinded by the light!Where i live, gas has gone up 20 cents in the last few days, Is this because of Obama and his oil buddies?

Just so the people here are informed (we all know how the Y!A posters like to be well-informed):

Will someone give him a b/j so we can impeach him!

Woops I'm starting to sound like the loons.
This is two part. The first being speculators the second being the decrease in the value of the US Dollar thanks to the massive printing of money with no gold to back it up.
Yes oblama and his oil buddies are price fixing oil so they can get richer and richer. The (p)resident controls the price of oil you know.
Yes, He has friends in exxonmobil, acorn, seiu, BofA,so many conflict of interests.
It's Bush's fault!
higher prices more taxes collected, yes his oil cronies
speculators
yes, his oil buddy SOROS
Nice pun, Dems are sheep.
yes it is and i think you really mean barry soetoro
yeah id like to see them blame bush for this.karma`s a female dog
OMG him and his Saudi friends when will we see change lol JK
I think you have Obama crossed up with Bush bud. More importantly the rise in gas prices is due to the economics of supply and demand. Since Americans and people all over the world have lowered their consumption of gasoline OPEC and the energy corporations have raised the price of oil and the refinement of oil to make money while demand is low. Consider taking an into to economics class at your local community college so you don't ask any more dumb *** partisan questions.
20 cents, wow, that's like two dimes. If you don't like the fact that prices went up (as they are always bound to), then go about walking.
You've got Obama confused with the Bush family.
You mean his vice President with tie to Halliburton and other oil companies.

Oh wait...
No, it's because Condi Rice farted this morning while eating her oatmeal.

Do not know what kind of ';receipts'; you are talking about.

If you were an employee in ND, then you dont get any special deductions for your commute or living expenses while away from home.

If on the other hand, you were a contract employee (paid your FICA), then you are entitled to tax benefits. Your commute, your meals, and your housing are deductible, if you can prove that Wisconsin is the base of your contracting business.

finally, the IRS only requires receipts for expenses over $75.00.

  • Will society learn to live life without oil or will the people keep depriving and keep harming the earth.?

I must say that we need to do something now and not be ignorant of an evergrowing problem wake up people. Will society learn to live life without oil or will the people keep depriving and keep harming the earth.?
There are many alternatives to oil. But for no transparent reason the answers are being stifled for many years. The greenies are responsible for the delay as well as others. It seems there are many ajenda'sWill society learn to live life without oil or will the people keep depriving and keep harming the earth.?
yea, I get 25 mpg in the city.

    You?

People who buy those humongous gas guzzlers are a part of the problem.
I think that certain societies will learn to live without oil, but that will mainly be because all the oil is gone and they can no longer afford to buy what little oil is left.
Uhhh bet you ride a bike everywhere you go? Huh, first take my cigaretts, now my oil, damn when will the insanity stop.
We will learn once it is gone. Till then rock on................
it won't matter much. Even if we can control consumption in this country. China and India are using more oil each day. It's kinda like smoking. We americans are starting to see the damage smoking does to our health, however the third world countries are smoking more and more. Tobacco companies making more money than ever even though sales are down in USA. Same with oil consumption.
the earth it doesn't matter if we harm it because you will fix it
    Poor poor earth.

    Go play with your barbies.
    F*ck the earth!
Sure, we can live without oil -- it's time to go back to nuclear energy and then on to fusion! Although, petroleum is more important as a chemical feedstock, than as a fuel.

Mankind can create a garden on Earth -- with high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, we can desalinate the seawater, and create fresh water rivers in the desert. But, only if mankind continues to utilize our God-given creativity!
I'm going to keep driving my 15 mpg SUV. Then if I'm ever in a wreck, at least I'll walk away. Hopefully it won't be a little fuel efficient, save the earth car. If it is, too bad for them.

    Go hug a tree
If we weren't so dependent on foreign oil, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today! I agree with you totally! I think we are making some progress with ethanol fuel, but we need to step it up!
Do you drive a car or take Public transportation, no matter what you need Oil to get around . Maybe you will take to walking great Distances in Order to conserve Oil. If you wear Clothes, eat food, it all has to be delivered some how; so what are you doing about that? Please, I hope that you are not using an A/C to stay cool or Heat in the Winter.

I live in a climate with four seasons, is 5W30 motor oil suitable for my minivan?

Virtually all manufacturers recommend 5W-30 oil for use under most conditions. Check your owners' manual on this. FWIW, I live in Maine, and we have a lot of variable weather (hot and cold) and I use 5w-30 and have had no problems.I live in a climate with four seasons, is 5W30 motor oil suitable for my minivan?
where are you, eastern canada? i am. use the 5x30 oil in the winter, its thicker and is easier on the engine in the cold. if your vehicle has a lot of kilometers/miles use it all the time.I live in a climate with four seasons, is 5W30 motor oil suitable for my minivan?
You don't go thicker in the winter.... I don't know why people say this.... colder temps need a thinner oil....

Long answer short...... YES! it will be perfectly fine, as long as its a good name brand (havoline, pennzoil, castrol, etc) you'll have great engine protection.
yes, a good choice, look on oil fill cap or in owners manual for recommendations. i am sure it will be 5W-30, it is rec'd for most all cars and vans.
It's okay, but a better idea would be to use a thicker oil in the winter and a thinner one in the summer.
yes use 5w30 year round and no it is not thicker. The first # in a oil grade is the viscosity when cold. the lower the number the thinner the viscosity. They even make a 0w30 now that is going in a lot of European cars. also if anything you would want a thinner oil in winter and thicker in summer. When you start the engine a 5w30 starts at a 5 weight and when it reaches operating temp it turns into a 30 weight. With 10w30 it starts at a 10 weight and goes to a 30 weight. So when your car is warmed up it is a 30 weight no matter which one you use. But there is a reason they recommend 5 over 10. The less viscosity the quicker the oil flows to the most vital part of your engine the top. If you have a lot of miles and it doesn't get into the single digit temps then you could use 10w30. When engines get old the valve seals tend to get bad and sometimes 5w30 get to the top a little too quick and will burn off. Other wise stick with 5w30.
I don't like 5....unless you live in Alaska. I always use 10W30. That means in the cold weather it has properties of 10 weight and when it warms up it has properties of 30.
    yes

What oil type(5w30 or 10w30) should i put for my car that has 42k miles & live in a mild to hot tempreture?

I would put the grade recommended for your car...usually that is 10w30 weight.

5w30 oil is usually recommended for colder climates, since it is slightly thinner...

It should be in your owners manual, under specifications. What oil type(5w30 or 10w30) should i put for my car that has 42k miles %26amp; live in a mild to hot tempreture?
Any one will be okay for your new car. If you are worry check your car manual for the recommended grade. What oil type(5w30 or 10w30) should i put for my car that has 42k miles %26amp; live in a mild to hot tempreture?
either one should work just fine... just be sure to change it every 3000 miles...
10w 30 but check your owners manual.
10w30 when its hot to give your car adequate lubrication and 5w30 when its cold below 40 consistently.......
    10w30.
it really depends on what kind of car you have but 5w30 would be best for most cars, better fuel economy and better flow on cold starts. some cars require 5w20, late model ford, honda and mazda. 5w30 covers all temps between the polar caps.
use 10w30.thats what i use and i dont have any trouble.its a all season motor oil.

Explain how alaskans get paid a 1000 dollars to live their. I no it has to do with the oil.?

Can any body who becomes a citizen in alaska get paid just to live their? Its just a thought way to far from family.Explain how alaskans get paid a 1000 dollars to live their. I no it has to do with the oil.?
I think it is to encourage people to actually live -and stay- there. I lived there for a while when I was young, and was glad to get back to civilization and sunshine =p Honestly, would you want to live somewhere that is sunny half the year and dark the rest of the time? Not to mention mosquitos bieng as big as birds!

    To the person who said you have to be born there;

We moved there when I was 12 and lived there for a little over a year, and my whole family, even us kids, got a dividend.

I found a site with info on it, you get the money so long as you are there one year after your applicatin for one. It is not necessarily a thousand...its the amount earned that year divided by all the people getting it.

Okay, I just found the why, too

The Alaska Permanent Fund is a legislatively-controlled appropriation established in 1976. Shortly after the oil from Alaska鈥檚 North Slope began flowing to market through the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, the Permanent Fund was created by an amendment to the constitution of the U.S. state of Alaska to be an investment for the proceeds from the sale of these minerals. The Alaska Permanent Fund was originally envisioned to set aside a share of temporary but phenomenal oil revenues from the unique Prudhoe Bay field to continue benefiting future generations of Alaskans after the original reserves had been depleted. Many citizens also believed that the legislature had spent the $900 million bonus the state had originally received after leasing out the oil fields both too quickly and with too little result. This spurred a desire to set a share of oil revenues out of direct control by politicians who were seen as likely to spend it on wasteful operations and unnecessary capital expenditures.Explain how alaskans get paid a 1000 dollars to live their. I no it has to do with the oil.?
No one really wants to live in frozen tundras thousands of miles from any kind of civilization. However, there are companies that have businesses out there and desperately need highly skilled professionals to do the work. So they pay them perhaps $100 or more an hour to do the work. For that kind of money and you're young enough, many people will do it for one or two years and come back to civilization with a sizable bank account. Maybe most of it has something to do with oil, but there's other companies as well. They're not getting paid 'just to live' there, but to stay there and do a job that no one else wants to do for only $50,000 ($24/hour) a year.
It's called dividend or permanent fund (by most)... and it's because of the money the state makes from letting oil companies lease the land. (So, the state pays the residents.) And it isn't $1,000, so-to-speak... It varies each year. This year it is said to be around $1,600 a piece. Yes, you can get it, even if you weren't born here, but you have to live here from Decemeber of 20XX to Decemeber of the following year... and then you can apply (the following March). Applying for a driver's license would probably be your residential start. I got here in April of 2004 and didn't get my first until last year (2006). So, it has to be December - December.

Yes, it's far from family unless your family lives here. My husband's family lives here so that's why we do, and he grew up here. It's not so bad, though.
i think its cus it allows them to ruin the land. i dno it was in the simpsons lol
because of the oil reserves they are taking out of their national parks- royalties to the Alaskans because the Alaskans own it, you have to be a born Alaskan to get the royalties, so you can't just move their and suspect them to give you money

  • Could you live without Oil?

    Knowing that...

you don't collect your own water naturally,

don't grow your own food naturally,

    need medication...

enjoy a night out in town,

    enjoy listening to your Ipods,

    drive your vehicle to work,

    drive your recreational vehicles,

take your family to Disney Land,

    that you have a job,

    that you have television

    Cellphone,

can travel to different parts of the world,

Wear the nice Clothes on your back,

    all products of energy....

Let's be honest....Oil is like water to us...we need it for survival.

For those who claim going to ';War for Oil is Evil';....

Is there point would you go to war for oil knowing that your life is pretty much dependent on it? Would you compromise your self righteous beliefs and admit in the back of your mind...';that we need to go to war';...that you want someone like George Bush to make the hard decision so you don't have to feel guilty about it?

Think hard. Think real hard.Could you live without Oil?
Without oil or a substitute energy source, our society would not survive. Only the lucky and strongest amongst us would.Could you live without Oil?
we don't depend on oil, rich arrogant narcissists benefiting from the oil industry want to keep this economy stimulated even though it's what caused Sept.11, because AL queada is hostile for our ';need'; of their oil.

there's other sources of energy, calm down.

    besides oil is not indispensible.

the oil industry will perish in 40.5 yrs.
Even with the need for oil, we didn't need to go to war with Iraq over it. There is plenty of oil in the other middle eastern countries. The war was about revenge over the lack of respect Iraq showed George HW Bush, Georgie Porgie's papa.
Yes, we could physically live without oil...it is desirable..?? No! Well I guess not all people could trully live without it, but right now I could because I am healthy enough.
no besides gas oil provides us with so much more including plastic. we need an alternative.
I don't think so. We need oil

    Especially Olive Oil.
Absolutely not! Oil is a God-given natural resource (or the product of evolution, depending on your beliefs) and requires very little refining or transport costs. It is an earth product that belongs to all of the people, not to be usurped by a few. That a few could claim this almost limitless natural product ,necessary for even basic life, as their own ';product'; (didn't require Einstein to invent this one) just shows the ill will of the greedy. To even consider not having oil or to be held hostage for jacked-up prices (not even to mention killing over it) is a stage of abuse that ill befits our destiny over earths' products. Open the pumps...the earth won't implode.
No. I would not go to war over oil. And we did not go to war over oil, we went to war (partly) over keeping cheap oil flowing. But it did not work, oil is more expensive than ever.

North America has all the Oil it needs. (most in 'unconventional' reserves expensive to extract) At the current prices, it is even cost effective to develop some of the unconventional reserves (one reason Canada has become a chief exporter).

So no, going to war over cheap oil is not in our interest as it had the predictable result of making oil more expensive. But mobilizing like a war, to develop more efficient technology and energy alternatives makes perfect sense. Science and technology will solve these problems in a sustainable way, and not cost any lives.

I don't submit that the Iraqi War was about Oil.

    %26gt;%26gt;

We dont need to go to war for oil. We can certainly reduce our dependence on foriegn oil. There are other forms of energy and we can gradually reduce our dependency of oil, and by the way, that is the only way the price of oil will come down and stay down.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, the 19 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia and microstates of Saudi Arabia. Why don't we go to war with them?
Pelosi's latest move is to halt development of new energy resources through drilling oil in Alaska and the outer continental shelf. She's engineered this through 13 obscuring maneuvers since 2005, which keep America's energy resources in the ground, while handing out subsidies to favored ';alternative energy'; programs, which she has cleverly packaged as resolving the energy shortage. Winners: environmental and alternative-energy lobbies. Losers: all of us, who must now pay more for energy and food.

I'll take oil refined by the oil giants to fill my tank before I take food out of the mouths of people who have it priced out of reach 鈥?thanks to our pure, progressive, politically correct do-gooders. They're the ones who made it possible for greedy Big Ag corporate giants to make a few insignificant gallons of gas and tons of money.

Let's stop this crime against humanity now. The food crisis is already here.
First to answer your question...yes i can live without oil.....we did it for thousands of years...do i want to....HEL L no! We a all spoiled.

Ok but the edit...your an idiot. How is the war in Iraq holding thoses responsible for 9/11 accountable for there actions. The so called ';link'; between al-quaida and Iraq has been proven false 1000x over. Dont be fooled by the treasonous liars in the white house. Iraq is about oil.

Dick Chaney and the oil rich Bushes want us to burn gas and waste so they can get richer. Why else in a RECESSIon would gas and food prices be going UP?

Well as for consumption of oil all we need to do is cut back... stop using as much. walk some places...conserve..thats it.

Oh, went you stick your nose that far up bushs @ss, all your gonna see is butt , its making you blind to the reality of the world around you.
You may wish to view human population like microbes on a petri dish. if you supply an energy source (food), the number of individuals increase exponentially (like our population growth after the advent of oil recovery).

The numbers keep growing, artificially supported by this energy source, until, the source is exhausted and the population immediately crashes.

This WILL happen to humans if we don't start figuring out how to utilize different energy sources as well as making legitimate attempts to decrease our highly dependent global population.

I am trying to make an annointing oil and i need the liquid of cassia and i live in los angeles but i don't k

Well 500 shekels is a lot! One shekel is roughly 8 gms. As for the other ingredients, some can be found at health food stores. On-line is a place called Simplers Botanical Company. They have all sorts of essential oils - even myrrh. you can also try a place called Well, Naturally Products. They have whatever the first place doesn't. good luck!

Another 200,000 babies were born today. How much oil will they use if they each live until age 60?

Will oil last that long? I thought oil was suppose to run out around 2030. So, based on that you could say half the amount that 200,000 people do today. Pepole use different amounts of oil. Alot depends on their buying habbits, how much energy they use and the availability of alternative energy sources.

If you figure that we use 600 galons of oil a year for a group of four pepole for 60 years that's about 9000 galons per person over 60 years. That comes to about 1.8 billion galons of oil if my quick math is acurate.

If you assume the price will rise exponentially and your babies will be a normal crossection of people they will start using half of what they use every year so 150 this year, 75 next, 37, 18, 9, 4, 2, 1, 1/2 etc, would be 59.4 million gallons for the 200,000 over sixty years using nearly none by the time they become teenagers.Another 200,000 babies were born today. How much oil will they use if they each live until age 60?
idk..dont ask meh..y would u think i would knoe that? lol

o_0Another 200,000 babies were born today. How much oil will they use if they each live until age 60?
it depends on how much oil thay use a day.

    365*200,000*60*x=X

Do you think all people all over the world rich or poor can sustained their living without oil ?

If all technology that depends on oil. And that oil is no more. How can we adopt to the new world without oil.Do you think all people all over the world rich or poor can sustained their living without oil ?
Man has the creative capacity to survive. Let's consider a model situation.

Family farmers produce crops and livestock to sustain the family unit. Everything which a family unit needs which is available on the farm makes the family independently sufficient. Everything that additional production must be exchanged to satisfy need is a vulnerable liability.

Limiting the liabilities is the task at hand. Complex corporate entities survive upon the liabilities.

Simple societies around the globe are surviving without complex corporate interaction. Survival skills have not been sacrificed in a division of labor.

Cuba is one example of being ahead of the survival curve on fossil fuel dependency. Food production is a basic survival skill which only requires access to arable land.

If people can't be fed, what is the purpose of more complex industry and technology?Do you think all people all over the world rich or poor can sustained their living without oil ?
some people could live without it, however many people wouldn't. Almost all the income for OPEC countries such as Saudi Arabia comes from oil. Without oil, their economies will collapse. Basically, the loss of oil will cause the collapse of the global economy. Although people can still survive, their lifestyles will have to change. However, fortunately, OPEC countries have about 60 or 70 years of oil left, (if they continue at the same rate as they are at now) and Russia is currently expanding into the Siberia region, and discovering large oil wells. By the time we do run out, we will probably have discovered some new alternative energy source that is actually used widely, so we should be ok.
You know you are a true intelligent visionary,I like people who think alternatively/outside the box. This is a question that I was constantly asking myself. Here is the thing:you see the price of oil is very low,50%of the price hike come from the ''oil speculators'' and 50% comes from the fact that the oil wells are running dry fast(it is becoming scarce).According to secret polls fossil fuel(crude oil:gas and diesel) is just a fad and the oil wells are set to dry up by 2038(because of the continual growth in the world population which is putting a major strain on the reserves/wells).People can only sustain the living without oil by waining themselves off of it starting as of NOW!!! and find ways to convert ALL technologies to alternative energy mode,e.g.:how oil is made of hydrogen-carbons,they might try converting it to where it run on hydrogen-oxygen or just plain hydrogen .You see the United States Of America and the rest of the Western Hemisphere need to get ''Real Courageous Visionary Humanity'' type of people(people who actually care about the needs and concerns of the common person, can think outside the box/alternatively/see the bigger over all picture, and who cannot be intimitated/bought off) in leadership position who actually has the guts to stand up against ''OPEC'' to say enough is enough, and has the adventurous/courageous spirit to actually go through with a ''Real Actual Decent Renewable Energy Programme''.On this planet we have five main sources of renewable energy:Earth=Geothermal Energy,Fire=Heat Energy,Wind=Aerosol Propulsion Energy/Water=Hydroenergy,Sun=Solar/Heat Energy. Also the answers to all of humankind energy needs are right in the Periodic Elemental Table itself because at least a dozen renewable altenative energy sources(which they can easily convert technology to run on) are hidden in that table which is enviromentally friendly and could even reverse the damage that hydrocarbon and carbon(gasoline, diesel, coal)fuel already inflicted on the ozone and the enviroment.I hope this answers your question.
salamu alaykum,i would like to answer about that question which is would poor and rich survive without oil,in my view poor can survive but rich cant survive because poor was poor all the time and didnt get any advantage from oil but developed countries will suffer more such as US and UK which exploit iraq oil for free.
One place to begin is to start replacing items made from oil products with other materials. We could reduce a lot of the waste created by plastics if we could replace them with glass, metal, or paper, like people did in the past.
In spiritual world nothing is dependent on oil. Only in materialistic world oil dependence may be to some extent. Join spiritual world and enjoy oil free life.

If we drained all the oil from the earth today, how would we live tomorrow?

Renewable energy hopefully. If we drained all the oil from the earth today, how would we live tomorrow?
I think we will be ok for now. There is roughly 3 Trillion barrels of oil in the sand in Alberta. If we drained all the oil from the earth today, how would we live tomorrow?
We couldn't. Very long, anyways. Technology for fossil fuel independence is developing, but it will take at least several decades before we can efficiently live without it. Luckily, we still have plenty of oil.
We'd burn all the trees for heat, and then we'd be screwed, just like those folks on Easter Island..
It ain't gonna happen. There is gallons of the stuff down there and we ain't gonna use it up by tommorrow. There is a lot of work goin' on to solve the problem and it won't be a conventional resolution, probably a very controversial solution, but it will work. I don't think this is our first priority tho and we will have a world wide religious problem that might need addressing first.
    solar power
Well, I can answer that. Unless the dumb chevy driving rednecks get common sense and we use renewable resources, well, we will pretty much living Hell on Earth, but wait, people will still complain. listen you dumb republicans and careless bastards, when that day comes, can you say global warming my *** then? I don't think so! That's my opinion.

I want to buy an offshore oil rig to live in and turn into rentals.?

    1. So how can I buy one?

    2. About how much do they cost?

    3. Anyone want to invest?(maybe this ought to be #1:)I want to buy an offshore oil rig to live in and turn into rentals.?
Interesting and creative idea! Contact a Realtor who specializes in commercial real estate and business leases. That would be a good place to start. I would imagine an active rig would not be cost-effective for your project, but one that is out-of-service might be acquired at liquidation pricing.

I would love to know the outcome!

  • Can the world live without oil?

If by oil you mean petroleum. We absolutely can! We have developed ways to use plain old WATER to make cars run, heat houses, weld metal, etc. I actually work in a lab that does research concerning hydrogen technology and feul cells. We are very close, within the next 10 years you'll see it! Here is an intersting link.

http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/2837鈥?/a>Can the world live without oil?
YesCan the world live without oil?
I think they can. Any sort actually for that matter. If you are talking about petrol products, then most probably all the oil that is used today would be replaced by another cheaper type of energy. Well for food oil, most families use less and less oil anyways.
yes. Everyone has been aware of the fact that the oil will eventually run out for quite some time now, alternatives are being tested already.
It managed quite successfully for a coupe of million years, and it probably will again!
    no
Absolutely. Oil is just an energy source. Energy is the real commodity and too integral to civilization now to ever go without.
We the people have continued to evolve, but there are those very few, who with out oil,

( power, greed, need to rule ) would simply not know what to do to contribute to the human race.

until we stop looking at each others differences as if they were flaws, this world will never unite under a flag of peace. and oil will still be your ruler.
Live, yes. As we now know it - no. I think a lot of people would die in riots and what not if all oil disappeared today.
ya sure, in the world there is nothing without wich it can not live,

science is growing so faster it will get any solution of fuel and by the way time teaches every thing to every one,
yep it did before i think it can now..
At the moment, no. Oil and oil derived products have been so deeply ingrained into our daily lives that if the oil supplies are to all of a sudden cut out tomorrow, things will be very very difficult (that is if all hell doesn't break loose).

Other than the obvious need for oil for energy, oil is used to manufacture plastics. Imagine a world without plastic.

The world would need an immediate and drastic rethink of how it goes about things and manufacture materials if it is to survive complete and utter depletion of oil supplies. At the rate we're going about agreeing on whether climate change and global warming are happening, it doesn't look likely.
Which oil are you talking about?
    mcdonalds would be finished
If needs must, then Yes. South Africa synthesised oil from coal during the apartheid years but that was a substitute. Lubricating oils can be synthesised. I think that you refer to oil as fuel and there are already people using ethanol instead of gasoline and vegetable oils instead of diesel gas oil. It would require a lot of innovation, the sort we see during total war or the space race. If the waste heat and CO2 from power stations were pumped through poly tunnels we could produce the kinds of fruit and vegetables that are currently air freighted thousands of miles.
It's possible, but the economy would collapse. There are some countries which heavily rely on oil to keep their country functioning. Without oil, life would be very hard.
the world can but the question is can we?
Modern civilization can not live without oil, at least not at current levels of technology. Many critical factors of a modern society depend on this energy source and without it, the functions of that society would come to a grinding halt, only to be replaced by anarchy.
    NO!!!
would that be peanut oil? sunflower oil? be specific!!!
We did once, and in the future, we will again. The world is not a static place, neither is humanity. Within 100 to 200 years, we will probably have shifted our energy sourcing to something other than petroleum.

Technological advancement is a dynamic process, and hasn't stood still. So, yes, down the road, oil will not be a major part of our lives, just like it wasn't 150 years ago.
Human beings can survive. But the quality of life would be quite different. I don't know of too many people who could handle it mentally.
In principle, yes. The world managed without oil until quite recently and could re-organise its economy to do so again. There are other minerals, notably lead, which were used much more freely in past history before they were largely worked out.

In practice, it is not so easy for the world to live without oil. We have become dependent (addicted?) to use oil for many things, and for some of them, notably air travel, there is no easy substiute. In addition, there is an issue of time: oil is running out faster than we are developing subsitute technologies.

Finally, the opposite question: Can the world live WITH oil?, is quite as important as the one you are asking. It appears that our profligate burning of oil and other fossil fuels is causing irreversible global warming.
the world can, its just humanity thats having the problem.
    no
probably not we are dependent on it thats why we need more renewable energy- wind wave power.
    sure..

Water will be the next fuel.
yes if we get rid of modern transport
of course it can, and it will, oil can't last forever, i'm sure there are advances right now being tested where everything is ran on water.
No....we relie on it too much

I live in a rented house and it smells like oil, the furnace is leaking, and the owner still hasn't come to ?

fix it. Can we leave the house and break the lease because of this?I live in a rented house and it smells like oil, the furnace is leaking, and the owner still hasn't come to ?
Call the fire department! This is a dangerous situation. The oil will give off fumes and the fumes can ignite.I live in a rented house and it smells like oil, the furnace is leaking, and the owner still hasn't come to ?
If the furnace is actually leaking, you need to call your oil company IMMEDIATELY and report a dangerous situation. Don't wait for the landlord. This is both a safety hazard and an environmental hazard and calls for emergency measures.

You might want to give your landlord a heads-up by calling him first and telling him that you are about to call the oil company. That might get some response out of him.
Call the company that delivers the oil and tell them there is oil everywhere. Make it sound scary and dangerous. Call the landlord and act the same way. Consider calling the fire department.

I live in Israel and little room is freezing ive looked at oil radiators halgon which takes less energy?

looking for energy effiaciantI live in Israel and little room is freezing ive looked at oil radiators halgon which takes less energy?
Oil radiators have ';thermal mass';, which, once it's heated, requires a relatively small amount of energy to maintain a set temperature. These are ideal for heating small rooms. It costs me about $25/mo to use one of these as a ';booster';, heating a 14' x 14' room from 57F to 70F.

-Some- studies show that a halogen heater is slightly more efficient. They also tend to last longer than a standard radiant heater, but initial cost is higher.I live in Israel and little room is freezing ive looked at oil radiators halgon which takes less energy?
Oil filled radiators are safe and efficient, although halogen heaters are half the price they only heat people directly in their line of sight, as they mainly emit infra-red radiation same as the Sun

Don't even think of '; dave.gre '; he is living in cloud cuckoo land
The most cost efficiant would be to bury a pipe outside, as long as possible, then draw air thro the pipe to heat the room. I guess I should ask first do you own or rent and do you have a yard?
The oil heater will heat the entire room, but a halogen heater will only heat you (or whatever you point it at).
Sorry I use an electric space heater myself, my gas furnace is too expensive to use.

I live west of Philadelphia. 55 mph max speed signs still up from oil scare of 70s.?

The result is speeds up to 80mph running over 55mph-ers. Any other states, localities with this problem?I live west of Philadelphia. 55 mph max speed signs still up from oil scare of 70s.?
Every state %26amp; locale has the right to set speed limits based on the type of road, usage, etc. State of OH, where I live, has interstate speeds of 65mph in rural area for 4 wheelers %26amp; 55mph for trucks (Ohio Turnpike is 65mph for both). Rural state routes are 55mph across the board unless you come into a municipality. Some roads were not designed for high speeds, due to curves, hills, lines of sight, etc. If you want to do speed limit, confine yourself to the right lane to prevent people from running over top of you.I live west of Philadelphia. 55 mph max speed signs still up from oil scare of 70s.?
Are you sure that the speed limit has actually been increased? Just because the federal government lifted the cap doesn't mean the state has to increase the limit on every single road.
The only problem is the ';idiots'; that flagrantly ignore the law. The posted speeds were not from the oil scare, but from common sense, due to the density of the population.

All vehicles retroactive to 1880 should be governed at 65mph.

';North Sea'; is a bit vague but i'm assuming you are within UK territorial waters and also that you are working for a fair portion of the tax year.

As a rule of thumb if you are in the UK for 183 days then you are resident in the UK but if you are also in spain for the part of the tax year and not working then you are possibly not getting the full benefit of tax free personal allowances.

You won't be able to claim all of your tax back though.

Whenever you enter the UK you have to complete a P86 (Arrival in the UK) and when you leave a P85 (Leaving the UK) forms. These will enable the HMRC to determine your residency status and also review if any tax needs to be repaid.

Residency is a complicated issue and therefore I would contact the HMRC and see exactly what is needed in your case. Can I claim back my tax if i work on an oil platform in the north sea but live in spain?

Why is it that the price for gas has not really drop with the price of oil. I live in King City, Ca.and the pr

The price here is almost 20cents more that forty miles away north and south. oil prices have droped whats holding gas prices from droping , when oil company profits show to me that its not supply and demand its how far will the people put up with being taken for a ride. We had wars, storms in the past, why is it now that if it rains or what ever reason they think of '; do they really mthink we beleive them when the profit margin shows that we are being taken for a ride!! who can we contact, people we need to get togetherWhy is it that the price for gas has not really drop with the price of oil. I live in King City, Ca.and the pr
They are convinced we have no alternatives so they can charge pretty much what they wish. We are addicted to our cars and they need gasoline. If Americans would stage an occasional ';Stay home from work day'; that would have little effect immediately but it would send the message that people were uniting against the abuse and the prices would eventually have to come down as Americans used less and less gasoline. Imagine if only 35% of Americans stayed home one day. That alone would help to create extra fuel in the system. The problem is to convince people to work together. The establishment has us so spread out and so dependant on working every single day to pay bills that few think they can afford to stay home.

Americans have to learn to begin conserving fuel because we are only one disaster away from total chaos and fuels shortages that we have never seen before. Why is it that the price for gas has not really drop with the price of oil. I live in King City, Ca.and the pr
unless they do away with the speculators in the oil futures market, you will always have this problem
Its the oil companies like Exxon posting record profits. If the price of oil went up so much during all the events they blamed the price increase on then why did they still have record quarters. Easy, they screwed us over.

  • Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?

Depends on where they are born. People in Africa living in poverty and starving to death don't use any.

In America the average is one million BTU's per person per day.

Splitting the difference, 100,000 people will use one million BTU's per day from birth until death.

So these people will use 100 billion BTU's per day.

    Living 70 years is 365.25 * 70 = 25,568 days.

    Figure on 2.56 E+15 BTU's total.

Of this total, about 40% in America is from oil.

So 1 E+15 is an estimate = 1 quintillion BTU's per person over their lifetime.

    One barrel of oil = 42 U.S. gallons = 5,800,000 Btu

    So 176,000,000 barrels of oil

The US consumes about 20 million barrels of oil per day. So about nine days of oil usage by the USA would cover all these people.Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?
I'm hoping that 80% of todays birthed, can use renewable energy sources. Assuming that they do not, my guess would be 20,000 gal per yr.Assuming they all live until 70, how much oil/gasoline will be used by the 200,000+ humans born today?
    Good to the last drop.
    I don't know. Too much, I suppose.
If they all lived in the west and consumed 50litres / week after the age of 18 until they were 70 that makes 50*52*52 person thats 135,200 litres * 200,000 = 27,040,000,000

if the average litres/week was 100 then it might be 54bn litres. but burning carbon fuels like that might be illegal in 70 years.

There's no evidence the olive oil is what caused her to live so long. My own great-grandmother lived to the age of 104 drinking a glass of water with a spoonful of saccharine dissolved in it every night. Saccharine has actually been found to cause cancer. So she didn't live so long because of this mixture she drank every night - in fact, she lived so long in spite of it. The best way to increase your longevity is to avoid smoking, drink minimally, exercise regularly, and eat a healthy balanced diet. Most people in modern times are not killed by acute illness but by chronic conditions that develop due to poor lifestyle choices.Whats that olive oil that 120 yr old women drank everyday that made her live for so long?
The explanation by any person of how they lived to their present age should not be trusted. Good genes and low risk is probably a better answer.

I think that is awhile away, things will evolve in time for that to happen. I will just deal with paying the gas prices, maybe find a job closer to home and walk when I can.

My friend and i are interested in seeing lots of trains. I remember going there as a little girl and seeing lots of trains. Do they still run there often? If not where around Trumbull country, ohio can we go to see a lot of them? Actually running...Does anyone live near oil city PA? (question about trains)?
There's the Oil Creek %26amp; Titusville RR. tourist line just north of there if you're interested. Check out: http://www.octrr.org/aboard.htmDoes anyone live near oil city PA? (question about trains)?
If you plan a trip to the other side of PA, Scranton has the Steamtown National Historic Site, with dozens of old locomotives and cars which still run regular excursions through northeast Pennsylvania, including the Tunkhannock viaduct.

Details for the coming season are at the following link:

    http://www.nps.gov/stea/loader.cfm?url=/鈥?/a>
My grand parents live in centerville, PA. It's right next to oil city. I know that there is a train that runs there for rides and such.

    Can we live without oil?

Do some math. Take a city of 4 million people.

If everyone needs a pound of food per day, thats 2000 tons of food per day. Can't move that with a horse and buggy.

Refrigerating that food. At 1 kilowatt per pound thats 4000 megawatts.

That's just food. Then there's power, transport, hospitals, sanitation. Wind and solar don't have the energy densities of oil.

Desalination is a rising issue as the world looks to water. Its power-hungry but water is a necessity. Iran is smart, they're looking to nuclear because they know the oil will run out. How about the rest of us?Can we live without oil?
Nobody has to sacrafice anything! We just have to start living in the 21st century and not in the 1890's. I use no oil/gas/coal! You can too. Just a matter of will. Choices man! If you want to buy food that was shipped across the planet that's your choice. If you want to rely of electricity from a coal fired plant because the power company wants to get fat on your money and not invest in ';new'; technology and just keep using the plant they built in the 60's and you don't complain... That's a choice you've made. I don't want to live in 1924! So why do we let billion dollar power companies choose that for us? You don't use a computer from the 70's or a phone from the 70's or fly in a plane from the 70's... so why would you power your house with 1960's technology? Or drive a car that runs on 1940's technology? Or...

But most of the world uses very little oil and that's why it's such a big problem 'cause there's still a long way to go, in the wrong direction, if everyone follows the western model...

And nuclear is not the option. You are making choices for people 250,000 years in the future... That's about 500x times worse than coal or oil... All that stuff is seperated from us by 100 meters of solid rock for a reason... it's the people who aren't around yet to cast a vote that are going to pay the cost of these choices, right?

-What couldn't you move by electricity? We need to convert our trains and other transport infrastructure from 1800's technology to 21st century technology. Or is this ancient infrastructure supposed to do us for another 200 years? You're right, if nobody puts any money into it we can't.

';Wind and solar dont have the densities of oil'; 'cause for 100 years we've been pouring tonnes and tonnes of money into the technology (or lack of) and gov't has paid the bill for oil infrastructure...

If tomorrow we put half that effort into solar, wind etc we sure would be able to meet our present and future needs...

-There is a guy in Denmark who makes wind turbines that are only 5 feet tall and generate more power than those huge 20 storey things that are popular today. So every building could be topped with them (if we wanted...)

-A University in Australia (Perth I think) has developed a solar cell that uses special filaments to capture and convert sunlight into energy. And they are 20% more efficient than current solar cells. Why couldn't we make solar cells that are roofing tiles?

-There is a guy who has made an engine that runs on air. Compressed air propels a simple motor that he has been perfecting and putting into bigger and bigger vehicles for years.

-Contrary to popular belief we've known about and built hydrogen engines for 70 years... etc etc

It's billion dollar oil and gas companies that want you to ';need'; oil... And who do you think is pushing for ';New Nuclear';? Not the public! But the billion dollar energy lobbies. The technology has been around for 60 years so it is very very cheap and easy for them to make a tonne of money on it at our expense.. And then the nuclear waste product can be sold to the military for new weapons projects. Sounds like a perfect plan to me...

There isn't a trillion dollar sanity lobby keeping all the money fiends and retards in check... If you are going to make choices for my grand childrens grand children, I want to have a say about it... There isn't American air or Dutch water or Chinese soil. It's dynamic and doesn't obey our maps. It's everyones and mostly it's the people who aren't around yet to cast a vote that are going to pay our bills...

And even if it was a sacrafice (which it isn't in any way) what kind of fool wouldn't make that sacrifice for their children? Higher taxes or less water consumption or demanding that big business take responsability for their pollution and waster... What kind of fool...?

Do the math! Can we live without oil?
As long as we don't mind the inconveniences it will bring, why not? However, in modern society, I think most of us would suffer without these conveniences.
We did it for CENTURIES!!! However we are so SPOILED by cars, and other things, it would be difficult if you worked far from home!...as far as IRAN is concerned, with all due respect, THEY ARE NOT JUST LOOKING FOR WAYS TO INCREASE ELECTRICITY OUTPUT! They are determined to obtain a NUCLEAR DEVICE and the MEANS OF SHOOTING IT OVER INTO ISRAEL OR EUROPE! I don't mean to switch subjects, but Iran smart? Crafty maybe...shrewd perhaps...but fooling noone.
    yes
absolutly, if cave men and cowboys lived without it we sure as hell can

Who owns all the oil? Don't the ones who own most of it live in Saudi Arabia?

Wouldn't it be in logical to assume that if the Insurgency wants more money then they would certainly want to if they in fact own large amounts of oil raise the price to get more money to fight the US in Iraq and plan for future battles? Will Islam out live oil?

Once Oil runs out or is replaced the wests interest in the middle east will go. It will just be a dusty hole with nothing of interest, inhabited by people with a 10th century culture. Without the evil interfering westerners to hate will Islam lose its unifying force? Will Islam out live oil?
I think you should think a little more, and phrase your question. Maybe replace Islam with Mideast, or something. Good luckWill Islam out live oil?
Islam was around before people cared about oil, and there's no reason to believe it will not be around after oil runs out.
    no
I bet you've never been to the Middle East...

It's quite obvious to me that your ignorance outshines you by asking that question...
Islam will not outlive oil, but not for the reasons you put forth.

With all the worry about ';green,'; and depletion of natural resources, and fossil fuels, we tend to forget what the Bible teaches us about this earth.

    God made this planet to support mankind until He gets ready to re-make it into a ';new heavens and a new earth.';

Isaiah 65:17 聽露For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Isaiah 66:22 聽For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

2 Peter 3:13 聽Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Until that time, mankind will be sustained, and we'll have enough of ...whatever... (even through flood, famine, war, and other disasters) until God is ready to remake it. However, that happens only after the kingdoms of this world will have been subdued, and the false religions (including Islam) will be destroyed. From that reality, we see that ';oil'; and other necessities will outlast Islam.
islam existed even before oil was used to power candles.

islam exists in different parts of the world that dont even have oil

1 in 5 people in this world is Muslim. many others are muslim (note: Muslim vs muslim)

    cheers
Islam will last until the end of time Insha'Allah!
Ummm, it was here for centuries before oil. It will likely exist after oil. Hopefully it will not have the influence that it has to today. I suspect this is one of the reasons that Iran wants nuclear power/weapons as much as they as do.
Unifying force of Islam is Islam itself not oil. In this period of great turbulation Islam is still appealing to others despite such forceful propaganda against Islam.

We have our own culture based on beliefs, morals and spirituality. Western culture is nothing more than lack of culture and exploitation of weak.

So, no happy time for you but only by embracing Islam.
I think it will, and outlast America too. If tomorrow the Arab nations decided they want to be paid for oil in Euros instead of dollars your economy etc would be history. That's the truth. Think about it.
yes it will, the koran will always be there, plus there probably will be a caliphate happening that may unify all middl eastern countries, so they should be fine

If you live in the US only: If the US entered an oil crisis, would you be willing to give up driving?

I mean, if the military needed all the oil and gas it needed, and took it all away from us, so we had to either bus, bike, or walk to work, would you do this gladly, or would you gripe or even protest? If you live in the US only: If the US entered an oil crisis, would you be willing to give up driving?
We all need to be working on driving less and using more public transportation/walking/biking now before things become a problem. It would be difficult, yes, but we need to keep looking for alternative sources of energy and utilizing them. We also need to encourage the government to increase routes and kinds of public transportation. If you live in the US only: If the US entered an oil crisis, would you be willing to give up driving?
It's really easy to say ';yes'; to this question, but to be honest, I would not give up driving.

I live to far from work, and owning a horse is just way too expensive.
Most of the oil is in Iran, Iraq and Arabs hands, Arabs are worth billions and billions. Iran is also worth billions. They have all the cards. Arabs could bring us to our knees anytime they want. You can't fight a war without oil. I did not support drilling in AWAR Alaska because we should save that oil for war. I also do not agree with exporting our oil to Europe for the highest price. I also do not support the capping of our wells in this country. Oil Companies cap wells to drive up the price, that's wrong. Clinton sold us out on SUVs he exempted them from the Federal Mileage and polution Standards as a bribe from Automakers, that was wrong. The Hydrogen auto by GM will help by 2020 but if we spent $1 trillion on Hydrogen cars instead of in Iraq we would already have Hydrogen Autos. In Europe they have far better mass transit, bullet trains, we do nothing like that.

We waste tax payers Money on Defense and making more nukes, that's wrong. Congress is useless. Organized crime is alive and well. Some call it Congress.
ive sworn off driving bcause of the hastle of a car/truck. i have had to move center to all i need to live but live in a cool area of austin. i live on 51st, work on 23rd, grocery is on 41st %26amp; everyone/everywhere i hang out is within a couple miles. im used to riding and 5 or 8 miles is a long way. its easy to say it %26amp; not greuling to do it occasionally but think, when its pouring rain, sleet, freezing cold ya better have your sht together. i use lined overalls to keep my clothes right for work. know, a motorcycle can be easily modified to burn used vegi oils. %26amp; yes, my bike has baskets. no, im not gay.
All of this so called oil shortage is a industry sponsored rip off. I wish that America could be weaned off of oil by use of alternate fuels. Big oil has run this country into the ground for to long and really needs a reality check. If everybody would just slow down and do the speed limit it would save the country millions of gallons of fuel each and every day. While driving a truck I learned that 7 miles per hour saved 1 mile per gallon. Do the math, multiply that by the millions of miles driven every day and you would have oil off of the coast waiting to be unloaded because they would have no place to put it here, then see what would happen to prices.
I live in New York City, so I don't even have a car. New Yorkers tend to travel very lightly in this world--we are heavy public transit users--but we're fortunate to have an excellent public transit system.
i would give it up, i live about 8 miles from work, so i could ride my bike to work. however, getting food would be a different story. i would need bussing to get my groceries. i wouldn't complain.
I'd give it up, America needs to walk more anyway- if you go by statisics about the growing population of obesity.
Well, I would not be happy, but I will always follow my government and my military
i have a good bike, the exercise would do us some good.

Might get a horse or mule.
I would be mad because I have to commute to school 2 times a week and the drive is about 45 miles. I guess I would car pool and get a bike.
It would be tough at first, but I would love to rid my bike everywhere! Everything I need is less then 5 miles away, plus, i love riding my bike. I think it would be cool if everyone rode their bikes everywhere
I live in US junior, Canada. I'd be okay with it. The oil will be gone soon - I expect it to happen.
If the situation became so dire that the mobilization of the military required the majority of the oil, I would have no problem supporting the governments desire to do so. I'm sure the American people will be able to understand and cope with this as well. Economic consumption on this scale by the military would require a world war in proportions greater than that of WW2 for the US. Not only would we cope, we would all contribute in other ways just as the public did in the 1940s.
Sure, if it were ncecessary, I would ride a bike to my office or telecommute more often.

Doubt it. I'm no cook or anything, but here's a tip I learned the other day watching TV. When making a cake, etc, if it calls for melted butter, you want to use butter that's been melted by being left in room temp- don't put it in the microwave or your cake will be flat (it won't rise). Also, when you microwave butter, margarine, etc, it takes the buttery taste out. That I have experienced.
You can always try it -- I'd be afraid the fudge may not harden though....hmmmmm......but now I'm hungry for fudge -- thanks a bunch!!! LOL

If you can't get to the store, then go for it. Otherwise, I would send HIM to the store....(I always send my husband instead of me having to go back out)...

Yes, oil will work but not as well. Shedds Spread and Parkay are nothing but whipped oil

    Professional confectioners will only use butter. STOP what you are doing and spend five dollars on pure Unsalted butter. GO NOw%26gt;
if it's old fashioned fudge (the kind you have to beat air into forever then pour it) i don't think it will work as well...

but instant should be okay i think.

    good luck.
Well the butter gives it a buttery taste. So don't put oil. Just make it without butter. Or margarine if you have.

Will an offshore oil and gas company employ me if I live abroad in Thailand.?

If i am working offshore in asia or North Africa will companies be prepared to send me to Thailand instead of my native country of England? Does anyone know if companies have a maximun budget for eah workers transport? And if so can workers make arrangements to be flown back to the country they reside even if it costs more and isn't their home country?

Thanks very much. Will an offshore oil and gas company employ me if I live abroad in Thailand.?
The worker transportation policy depends on two things - your job, and who the employer is. Naturally, most companies will be willing to spring for more for some offshore jobs than others - the Offshore Installation Manager, or even a long-term Driller, has a better shot at it. As a cook, working for an offshore catering contractor, I personally haven't had any luck in that regard. Other than that, it really varies from company to company - here in the states, especially for 4 week hitches, many companies will pay airfair to and from the embarkation point, but many won't, too. Transocean seems to be pretty good about that. Your best bet is simply to contact the hr rep for whatever company you will be employed by for your offshore work, and see what their policy is.

I like to know too. She has to be doing something more than just drink olive oil.Whats that olive oil that 120 yr old women drank everyday that made her live for so long?
thats carzy i would like to know also
I don't think that a daily cup of olive oil will extend your life. A huge variety of factors go into your life expectancy - diet, life style, genes, family health history, etc, etc, etc.

  • Would You Like To See The ';NO BLOOD FOR OIL'; Liberals/Democrats Live Without Oil, Starting Tomorrow?

Does America`s useful idiots (liberals, Dems, the uninformed) have any idea what they are talking about ? Of course not.........Do you understand the importance of oil ??? Do you have any idea why western societies seem so interested in stabilizing the oil fields of the world ?.......Rational thought tells us that we need to secure the world`s oil fields. Irrational thought (liberal thought) tells us the U.S., and the west in general (while the libs ignore China...etc...) is evil and using oil is evil.......If you are a rational person, you know the civilized world today is dependent on oil to retain civilized societies.....Do you disagree ? How so ??? We`d love to hear from your kind.Would You Like To See The ';NO BLOOD FOR OIL'; Liberals/Democrats Live Without Oil, Starting Tomorrow?
Have you not been listening to the democratic agenda. You are absolutly right, we have a huge dependance on oil in this country and most of that oil comes from overseas. LETS CHANGE THAT. Let's re-tool our society to lessen our dependance on foreign oil.

How do we do that? How about a focus on something that benefits domestic business men? Renewable energy!!! It will take a lot of work and we are far from being independant of the foreign oil that has so much domination and control on our society, but let's start NOW!!!Would You Like To See The ';NO BLOOD FOR OIL'; Liberals/Democrats Live Without Oil, Starting Tomorrow?
It's the 21st century. We are using the same fossil fuel we used a hundred years ago. I would like to see the heroes of the Conservatives (big oil) stop stifling new technology in alternative fuels.
Then explain to us why the price of oil has skyrocketed since we invaded Iraq? The region WAS stable before we invaded. There was no reason for us to secure anything.
ahh nice to see some one else bashing on the libtards
Rational thoughts and liberals cannot be used in the same paragraph. The things that liberals overlook when one of their own is in power is astounding. During Peacetime Clinton's presidency we lost 6500 U.S. soldiers. Compare this to a Wartime Bush, who has lost 3750. Where should the outrage really lie?
If people are willing to go to war for oil(which I doubt you'd get a majority on that), okay.

But I really want the truth told. If we're at war for oil, why pretend we're building a democracy?

Actually, why pretend the US is a Democracy?

And yes, instead of the huge SUV tax credits Bush handed out, what if that was invested in a thriving new alternative energy platform?
OK . I'd especially like to see Gorp do that stunt .
The amount of $ spent on this war could have easily created a feasable alternative to oil based energy, eliminating our dependance on the middle east and in turn eliminating several potential and already made enemies. You understand that we, Americans, are likely funding the terrorists in which our troops fight with the dollars we spend on oil. I'm not even going to touch the environmental issue.

It must be easy to say that blood is a worthy payment for oil when it is not your blood or the blood of your loved ones being spilled for said oil. I wouldn't know as I don't have that luxury.
Yes. Good question. Get ready for the angry, hateful, liberal responses!
I have always thought liberals should be given what they ask for--just for a few days until they start screaming to have it all back...of course, I am a Howard Roark kind of person.
I thought we didn't invade Iraq for oil?
Does this mean you're a ';Blood for Oil'; conservative, and you're willing to start living with oil instead of blood starting tomorrow? Let me know how that works out for you.
You provide such a conducive platform for rational discourse. It's amazing. You write as if you're really upset about something.

What's civilized about war? What's civilized about any society?

Put the Quarter Pounder back in your mouth and keep watching MTV.
My kind? How very condescending of you...

I would love to be able to do that. But right now, the oil and car manufacturers lobbyists are busy making it almost impossible for any other research to be done on alternative energy in the US.

There is a finite amount of oil left in the world. Doesn't it make more sense to figure out something else to use as energy instead of fighting over the remaining oil?
Yeah but the hypocrites won't. They're too busy flying around protesting oil usage.
Or, perhaps, we could recognize that there are other ways of ensuring a supply of oil than invading Iraq on false pretenses.
No! Absolutely not! I don't want to have to listen to the whimpering and whining when they don't have anything to run their Yugo or Prius on and the buses quit running.
First of all like the others mentioned we have plenty of other means available..

Second of rational?? Are you sick in the head, you think fighting a war on false pretenses and killing people is okay just so we have gasoline to put in our cars?

So if China or Saudi Arabia run out of something, should they come invade our country, kill us and take it away..

Congratulations, just when I thought people couldn't get dumber, you proved me wrong...
I'd rather see all of you ';I support the war in iraq'; chickenhawks shipped off to iraq to actualy fight for what you claim to believe in, rather than just squawking about it while you hide behind a keyboard.
    Uh oh, rational thinking!

Here comes the 101st liberal keyboard battalion and their personal attacks!
That would be a hoot. How would they start their white smoke-blowing VW vans? And how would the rich ones start their Beemers?
Of course it sounds catchy and righteous, but when push comes to shove they're just as bad as the rest of us, some are worse.
