What weight oil should i use in my MF35 tractor? (3 cyl. perkins diesel) i live in florida where its hot?

I also know about being HOT here in Birmingham AL! There are several oils which you can use in the tractor. I would definitely use an oil designed for use in Diesel engines such as Rotella by Shell or Delo by Chevron. For standard motor oils, either one should do the trick and hold up in the tractor without premature oil breakdown and failure. As for me, I use a different oil in my tractor and commercial maintenance equipment. I feel that the best oil available and the tests I have seen prove it is a synthetic oil named Royal Purple. This stuff is unbelievable - a little expensive, but worth it in my opinion. I purchase it in the gallon jugs or 5-gallon pail when available. Sometimes the gallons are cheaper, sometimes the 5-gallon jugs. The oil also comes in quarts. Royal Purple produces several different blends of synthetic oil for different applications. They do have the oil designed for the high temperature operation of diesels. I use Royal Purple 40 weight but you can us 15W-40. The 15W part is useless here in the south but most people do not understand about the first number and its purpose or thinner viscosity in cold ';Winter'; weather. Either oil you use, 40 weight or 15W-40, will work equally well. If your tractor has over 500 hours on it, (if it were mine) I would use a full synthetic such as Royal Purple or equivolent. If the tractor has less than 500 hours on it, I would use the Rotella or Delo 40 weight oil. Even though synthetics claim that their change interval is increased or prolonged, I change my oil at the recommended intervals. The extra expense for the synthetics for the ';broken in'; engine is worth it in my opinion. I know for a fact that on some of my small equipment used in commercial service, some of the machines should have blown up, rather thrown a rod or valve, many hours ago but they keep running. Some of the mowers run like a top and smoke a little and also have no power - they are just worn out but they still run. I can only attribute that to using Royal Purple in them. To date, I have not had any equipment using the Royal Purple synthetics just ';come apart';, they all have just been retired or replaced with new motors. As for my tractor, it uses a pint of oil like clockwork every hour and has for about 10 years now but runs like a top! I am quite confident that its due to regular oil change intervals and quality oil. Oh, also make sure that the air filter and fuel filters are replaced regularly. I replace my fuel filter at each oil change. Running a diesel lean or starved for fuel can cause it to overheat quickly. It is not uncommon to get some cruddy diesel fuel with gunk in it. If the fuel sits in a fuel can very long, diesel can actually grow algae etc. in it. Changing out the fuel filter should resolve most fuel issues. I hope the above helps. I have found the Royal Purple at local NAPA stores here in Birmingham. What weight oil should i use in my MF35 tractor? (3 cyl. perkins diesel) i live in florida where its hot?
You should ask at your local farm %26amp; fleet store where you buy your tractor parts. My husband thinks he's been using 10W-40 all purpose motor oil up here in central MN (we do not run these tractors in winter) in two WWII vintage Allis Chalmers tractors (regular gas).

Artichokes are also a good liver food.Does olive oil really make you live longer and disease free?
Olive oil is a major part of the Mediterranean diet and is probably the best and healthiest cooking oil there is.

A web search for ';olive oil'; + ';health benefits'; will give you further information.

I live in london ,where can i find someone affordable to stretch my oil painting canvas?

it is a large painting and i need a student artist or even a an affordable studio to stretch it for me.I live in london ,where can i find someone affordable to stretch my oil painting canvas?
Put an ad up at an art school or on craigslist or something. There are lots of young and poor (but still good) artists out there who'd be willing to do this for cheap.

Do you really think you need an artist to stretch it? I'd get a friend to do it ; someone who happens to be handy with tools. The laziest carpenter is better than the most enthusiastic artist. Just tell him how it needs to be supported and I bet you get a better job than a so-called professional stretcher.

I live in MA, and we have steam heat oil furnace in our apartment/house.?

Part of the heat the goes to the common hallway area. Also, the people upstairs (landlords) have gas to heat their place, while we have oil. I am kind of upset about this, since we are going to spend more than double to heat our place this year. Does anyone know if the landlord is responsible for paying some of the oil heating costs if we are heating the common hallway?I live in MA, and we have steam heat oil furnace in our apartment/house.?
first of all the landlord is responsible for heating the hallway and any areas outside of your apartment. if i were you i would shut the radiator valve in the hall and let it get cold. i would also tell the landlord that at these high oil prices i cant afford to heat up their hall.I live in MA, and we have steam heat oil furnace in our apartment/house.?
    what is in your contract?

What weight oil should i use in my diesel tractor, i live in florida where it's hot! 15w-40,30wt,or 10w-40?

I am thinking of using rotella t 15w-40?What weight oil should i use in my diesel tractor, i live in florida where it's hot! 15w-40,30wt,or 10w-40?
    Good starting point 15w40.

Theoretically it offers cold startup protection (15w)

as well protection at the higher operating temps (40w).

Regardless of the diesel engine's application,

I usually use Rotella T or Chevron Delo 400 15w-40 during engine break in

then switching to Royal Purple 15w40 synthetic motor oil.

.What weight oil should i use in my diesel tractor, i live in florida where it's hot! 15w-40,30wt,or 10w-40?
I live in Florida as well...I use a 10w40 for all my machinery during the summer time, and when it does get colder(i live in the panhandle)...I switch back to 10w30
id say you would want to use the 15 weight that will work pretty good in your tractor! i have a tractor in texas and use rotella 15w-40 best of luck
    15w40 rotella
Are you going to trust your motor to the people on here? Wow. How about checking with the manufacturer and doing it right? It's your motor.
I'm in Florida too. Rotella 15W-40 should be fine. If you want to go synthetic check out Amsoil 15W-40: http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g118.pdf

I live in Ohio, Im buying a double wide mobile home. Whats better to heat with, propane or fuel oil, and why?

First off fuel oil, if set up right will not smell up the house. Second propane doesnt burn hotter, fuel oil burns at 500 to 700 degrees and propane burns at 250 to 400 degrees. Since you live in a mobile home the oil tank would be outside and oil may jell up and stop heating and kerosine is more expensive. Propane is a more logical choice wont freeze up but will slow the flow if below 40% and can soot up the furnace faster. Propane is also much higher in efficiency and might save you alittle more in fuel costs.I live in Ohio, Im buying a double wide mobile home. Whats better to heat with, propane or fuel oil, and why?
LP. Heating oil makes the house reek to high heavens, even the newer stuff. LP is cheap, and efficient, and doesn't stink when you heat with it.I live in Ohio, Im buying a double wide mobile home. Whats better to heat with, propane or fuel oil, and why?
Fuel oil appliances require much more maintenance than do propane appliances. Maintenance costs, not to mention the down time, make propane a more attractive choice. Comparing fuel costs these days is almost impossible to accomplish because of the instability of fuel prices.
propain its cheeper because its made form fumes of gas prodution basicaly and its cleaner and more efficent
    pick the answer above me!!
    great answer fallencupid79..
propane burns hotter but you cant go out and get it your self.. you have to stay on it if you go with oil you can put diesel or k-1 in the tank so if you run out in the middle of the week and don't like the extra charge to make a special drop for fuel then you make that decision
hi burning propane gives off water like you would not belive so go for oil if set up right does not smell and will give better heat
