America must drill (domestic oil) or kill is there another choice. I live in Alaska and no one lives in ANWR.?

I agree we need to do something. China is drilling 60 miles off the Gulf Coast and you know those veins are running in our direction. We can not continue with this Ethanol innovation because it is ruining the global food chain. People are really starting to hate us because they are starving and we are growing corn for freakin gas. We need to start drilling in the ANWAR, east coast, west coast and gulf cost until we can position ourselves with a GOOD innovation.America must drill (domestic oil) or kill is there another choice. I live in Alaska and no one lives in ANWR.?
I'm also an Alaskan resident (currently stationed in PA with the military), I think they should be able to drill as long as strict environmental standards are worked into the authorization. Get the EPA and the Coast Guard in on it and work to minimize the environmental impact. People said the same kind of things about the pipeline, but thats been a tremendous success without any major impact on the environment.America must drill (domestic oil) or kill is there another choice. I live in Alaska and no one lives in ANWR.?
Not drilling in ANWR isn't about protecting human life, it's about preserving nature.

The other choice is the old American standby of INNOVATION.

But, conservatives don't like innovation because it endangers the profits of old school businesses who don't want to have to actually abide by market forces.
Why not try to go with something that doesn't require oil???

I know, I know, its far fetched... I mean Brazil and Germany are in the process of doing that.... so I wouldn't imagine America doing that as well.

There are many vehicles out there running on grease from MCDs and on hydrogen. There was one I saw that ran on AIR!!! I think there are alternatives than having to go use oil. There is wind and water that are always available to us and don't pollute the air. Go Figure!
Do you know what grade is underground?

Do you know how much is there?

Do you plan on having a refinery in your state?

Do you know how long it will take to build a ';SECURE'; pipe line from the wellhead to the refinery that you will build?

Do you really want to endanger the pristine land that you are endangering?
If we drill, we still will kill. The drilling will most likely done by the British oil company BP, and the oil will last maybe 15 years while providing about 5% of our oil supply. While that's nothing to sneeze it, it's not really the answer to anything in the long term.
yeah, walk, take a bus, cycle.

Also, support research in alternative fuels.

ANWR- beautiful, one of the few untouched natural areas. wildlife. it shouldnt be destroyed.
We have been drilling and pumping oil up here in Alaska since 1977. The wildlife do not have any problems with it. We don't have enough oil to satisfy all the needs and wants of the USA.
I lived in Alaska for years too - in fact during the years it was devastated by Exxon Valdez. ANWR doesn't need to be ruined by man.
No one lives in the ANWR? No humans, you mean. It wouldn't be much of a Wildlife Refuge if there were a huge oil-drilling place there.
the liberals say no to ANWR but you just wait and see if we get a liberal president they will chang their mind and take the credit for lower gas prices
Drilling in ANWR would take a best a decade to produce any meaningful result. Not much of a plan.
I'm on board of drilling.

Did you know there's oil under the Great Lakes, too?

Canada is drilling it right now.
what about the caribou and the bears lol . i agree this country will have to start drilling for more oil in Alaska
Drill or kill? Haha... those aren't the choices.
Do you honestly think that liberals care what people in Alaska actually think?
i'm a democrat who agrees my party is wrong on this issue
57% of federal land with an oil reserve (very large ones at that) are open for full drilling....

Why do they need more land to drill on when they aren't utilizing 57% of the land available right now?

First it was regulations, then it was lack of land and now they are blaming ethanol....

When will we start to figure out they are just gouging us? Profits per gallon refined have doubled.........so those restrictions and regulations couldn't have been too bad.

Yeah, we ship corn all over the world for food....(not really, its used in feed for mammals that used for food, and they even less efficient than plants). Its not ethanol....its the price of oil, it drives the commodities market. Do some research on it.

As for off-shore drilling, I more than understand the issue there, but if other nations are going to be engaging in the practice I think we not only owe it to Americans to do the same, but also to the world. We can do it cleaner, more ethically and more efficient than China or Cuba. Not to mention, we aren't helping China by inaction.
