My question is this: Can I add vegetable oil to my oil tank? If so, what kind? I am paying $3.69/gallon now and would like to supplement with a biofuel that I can get less expensively.I live in the northeast and heat my home with heating oil. I know that biofuels are now used in homes.?

i run veg in my car so i know about it somewhat. the problem is that veg oil thickens the colder it gets, you may be able to run a 50/50 mix at above freezing temperatures however if you live where the temperature dropped to well below freezing id say no, it would clog your system badly, the best/cheap way i found to thin out veg with out heat is to mix kerosene in with it, it thins it twice as good as home heating oil, problem is though might work at one temp then gel up when it gets super cold here is a link to a heater that can handle it
