You can use 10w/30 if you choose or even 10w/40. If you look in your owners manual you will see what viscosity they recommend for ambient air temperature or climate. Usually the hotter the climate the higher the viscosity rating. I would recommend using a synthetic oil because is does not break down under extreme temperatures. What kind of motor oil should I use 5-20w is good for a engine with 107k miles I live in hot climate?
I beleive that ALL 5W-20 oils are synthetic. If this were MY Durango, nothing wouold get inside but Mobil One 0W-20,which was designed for use in Chrysler products. The only other choices would be Pennzoil Platinum and ELF oil from France. Their labels must mention ';chrysler specifications'; on the back somewhere.
5W-20W is okay, Personally, with the wear of 107K miles use 10W-40W, but if it were 200K I would go with 20W-50W as the clearances would have now been greater.
go with what got you this far
