I think we will be ok for now. There is roughly 3 Trillion barrels of oil in the sand in Alberta.If we drained all the oil from the earth today, how would we live tomorrow?
We couldn't. Very long, anyways. Technology for fossil fuel independence is developing, but it will take at least several decades before we can efficiently live without it. Luckily, we still have plenty of oil.
We'd burn all the trees for heat, and then we'd be screwed, just like those folks on Easter Island..
It ain't gonna happen. There is gallons of the stuff down there and we ain't gonna use it up by tommorrow. There is a lot of work goin' on to solve the problem and it won't be a conventional resolution, probably a very controversial solution, but it will work. I don't think this is our first priority tho and we will have a world wide religious problem that might need addressing first.
