Every state %26amp; locale has the right to set speed limits based on the type of road, usage, etc. State of OH, where I live, has interstate speeds of 65mph in rural area for 4 wheelers %26amp; 55mph for trucks (Ohio Turnpike is 65mph for both). Rural state routes are 55mph across the board unless you come into a municipality. Some roads were not designed for high speeds, due to curves, hills, lines of sight, etc. If you want to do speed limit, confine yourself to the right lane to prevent people from running over top of you.I live west of Philadelphia. 55 mph max speed signs still up from oil scare of 70s.?
Are you sure that the speed limit has actually been increased? Just because the federal government lifted the cap doesn't mean the state has to increase the limit on every single road.
The only problem is the ';idiots'; that flagrantly ignore the law. The posted speeds were not from the oil scare, but from common sense, due to the density of the population.
All vehicles retroactive to 1880 should be governed at 65mph.
