What a quality control lab is, the work done there and how it is carried out, especially ia an oil industry?

A quality control lab tests products before they reach the consumers. What a quality control lab is, the work done there and how it is carried out, especially ia an oil industry?
A quality control lab typically verifies that a product is made to a specific standard. This is a wide open question since there are so many variables in the production of different products. A good example in the plastics industry is in color matching. A newly produced sample must be compared to a known standard sample under several lighting conditions. I suspect the micron size is compared very closely in the oil industry. You wouldn't put SAE 10W oil in a SAE 20W can.
